Social Media Sorcery

I kind of feel like Mickey Mouse when he’s left to his own devices in the Sorcerer’s dungeon. I guess that makes Jac the Sorcerer, but before I overdo the analogy, let me make my point: HootSuite University blew my mind.

A social media dashboard that lets you manage your various networks from one internet tab sounds all well and good, but I had no idea how deeply integrated, elegant, and analytic HootSuite takes that basic framework. My experience with HootSuite is modest, but HootSuite University was enlightening. Bulk scheduling, geo-targeted searches, browser add-ons that link webpages, an app-directory, contact lists from all your social profiles, custom url parameters, and even security features that protect from slip-ups and mismanaged personal profiles make for a behemoth of a dashboard – with a cute little owl mascot, to boot.

So, basically I am at the helm of something far bigger than I anticipated, and maybe I should take a page out of Mickey’s book and try not to get carried away with all these magical features and applications.
