12 Ways of Giving, Day 8 — Get Fired Up about Volunteerism

Holly Terry (second from right, kneeling) helps Santa out at the Lenox Fire Department.

Established in 1909 following a fire on Easter Sunday that destroyed a large part of downtown Lenox, the LFD has a long-standing tradition of providing all-encompassing service to the Town of Lenox and its residents. That’s why supporting the department is a priority for Winstanley Partners Interactive Project Manager Holly Terry and her husband, volunteer firefighter Captain Jim Terry.

Holly uses her talents to volunteer for the Lenox Fire Department in a ways that are both inventive and important. An accomplished web designer with a flair for interactive marketing projects, websites, and Flash animation, Holly donated her time and designed the LFD’s website. She also assists with the department’s community relations efforts and event planning, helping to organize and spread the word about the LFD’s recent centennial celebration, firefighter’s ball, and firefighter’s parade. She’s also one of Santa’s helpers, giving out presents to children at a department-hosted holiday party.

“There are so many different ways to help out, and there are plenty of things to be done,” she said, noting that in addition to monetary contributions that support the LFD’s operations, donations of historical memorabilia, photos, ephemera, and, above all, time are always greatly appreciated.
