What is your generational identity?

Do you know what generation you are from? You may be surprised to learn that you are not a Boomer, but a Silent, or maybe you’re a second wave Boomer, not a Generation X.

During a very educational seminar this week by generational consultant Chuck Underwood, we learned that there are five generations of note. And, don’t you dare call 0-25 year olds Generation Y or Echo Boomers, they are the Millennials.

The point of the seminar from a business point-of-view was that there are a lot of ways to target your potential customers, based on generational research. You may not even realize that your Boomer clientele could multiply if only you changed your messaging to focus directly on them. The same goes for the other generations, depending on what you’re marketing.

It was a three hour presentation, so there is no good way to summarize it in a paragraph or two.

You can check out the PowerPoint version of the presentation or check out Chuck himself and The Generational Imperative, the company that he founded based on the generational consulting idea.
